We were called out of darkness by God’s abundant mercy and grace to proclaim His praises. That is our calling, and as Christians we cannot choose to ignore this truth. God created man to have communion with Him because He loved us and wanted mankind to love Him and worship Him voluntarily. That is why deep down we long for reciprocal love; it is our most inner desire.
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light (1 Peter 2:9)
When God delivered Israel from Egypt, He determined a specific tribe/ people to the task of ministering to Him. To approve as a “chosen people”, however, the priests had to be consecrated and entered into a covenant to walk and dress in holiness before God.
13 You shall put the holy garments on Aaron, and anoint him and consecrate him that he may minister to Me as priest. 14 And you shall bring his sons and clothe them with tunics. 15 You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout
their generations.” (Exodus 40: 13-15)
With the new covenant through Jesus Christ, we now have the ministry of the spirit, which is God Himself dwelling in us (2 Cor. 3:7-10, John 14:23). The book of Revelations takes this even further by expanding that the tabernacle of God is with man since He dwells in them. This is a beautiful and exiting truth; the tabernacle is the place (man’s heart) where God now rests to have intimacy with His children.
3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.
(Revelation 21:3)
David prophetically announced to our generations how an intimate lifestyle with God must look and feel like. His example of loving and worshipping God set Him apart from the rest, to the point where God called David a man according to His own heart. The level of intimacy that David lived has provided much revelation to the church, but the one that concerns us today is the juxtaposition between the innocence and purity of a child of God and the awesome power released through worship.
3 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and
the avenger. (Psalm 8:2)16… “Yes. Have you never read, ‘out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants, you have perfected praise’? (Matt. 21:16)
David revealed to us that the process of being able to offer passionate and sincere worship to the Lord has a three-fold impact that manifests in our hearts, in others and in our environment:
It brings us face to face with our creator, thus transforming our hearts through intimacy and love—God’s affections and personality.
(2 Cor. 3:18)It transforms our hearts to love one another to become one under
the same and only God (1 Peter 4:8).
It releases God’s power and judgment on powers/ principalities and those who oppress the poor, widows, orphans, and wage earners etc. (Malachi 3:5)
3 He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness. 4 “Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant to the Lord… 5 And I will come near you for judgment; I will be a swift witness Against sorcerers, Against adulterers, Against perjurers, Against those who exploit wage earners and widows and orphans, And against those who turn away an alien—Because they do not fear Me,” Says the Lord of hosts. (Malachi 3:3-5)
Paul talked about the fellowship of the mystery; the mystery being God’s original purpose to have an intimate relationship with His children, Jew and Gentile—due to sin, eventually Jesus had to appropriate of our sins to search out the riches of God’s multipurpose Grace. The fellowship of the mystery would also transform and build up the church to the level where all powers and principalities would shake in the heavens.
9 And to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Chris; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord (Ephesians 3:9-11)
There is a secret to be sought out in the spiritual realm when we fellowship with the Holy Spirit and worship the father through Jesus—the Key of Worship. David was aware of God’s awesome power released through worship; he called it the “honour of all saints”—to release and execute the written judgment through worship (Psalm 149:1-9).
This is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility: to make known the multi-form wisdom of God.
